The fieldwork comprised the excavation of 38 trenches (50m long by 1.8m wide); in the locations shown on the attached plan. Trenches were set out on OS National Grid (NGR) co-ordinates using Leica GPS and surveyed in accordance with CA Technical Manual 4 Survey Manual. An archaeological evaluation was undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology in June 2016 at Land at Wavendon, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire. Thirty-eight trenches were excavated. In discussion with Nick Crank during the site visit on the 9th June the additional trench in the proposed access area to the north-west of the site was removed from this phase of works; as were Trenches 39-44 in the south-eastern field belonging to the Wavendon Foundation. In view of the generally negative results of the evaluation, and subject to the development proposals for the site, it was agreed that these trenches may not require subsequent investigation. Two small concentrations of undated archaeology in the forms of pits and ditches were recorded in Trench 1 and across Trenches 17 and 18; all were undated producing no finds. Agricultural furrows, as indicated by the geophysical survey, survived across the site with their preservation being greater in the southern portion of the site.
