ABSTRACT: This article exposits Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI's integral vision of the liturgy as faith's central form of expression. It unfolds the relationship of liturgy to theological anthropology, Christology, and ecclesiology, illustrating that liturgy is organically connected to these dogmatic mysteries not on their peripheries, but at their heart. The article suggests that this integral vision is a fitting way to understand his liturgical legacy as theologian, priest, and pope. Finally, it is argued that the vision of liturgy proposed by Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI is ultimately directed to the entire people of God for the greater formation of their liturgical consciousness and inner vision, which is for him the most essential and necessary foundation for authentic liturgical reform.
