We note that recent predictions of a divergent line tension at a first-order wetting transition have the consequence that the lifetime of the thick wetting film when taken out of equilibrium will be extraordinarily long. Measurement of the increase of relaxation times of the thick film would elucidate the form of the divergence of the line tension.
