This note provides an update of previously published African rainfall series. Five sub-Saharan regions of West Africa, eastern Africa, and the northern and southern Kalahari are considered. Decadal anomalies for the entire continent for the 1980s are also presented. That decade has been one of intense drought throughout West Africa and moderately dry conditions in most of southern Africa and elsewhere on the continent except for the equatorial latitudes.
