The article examines the issue of the phenomenon of new left political subjects in Latin America (with special focus on Ecuadoran, Peruvian and Chilean cases). The author shows that there are objective and subjective reasons for the emergence of new left parties and movements in the context of a systematic crisis of the traditional international and Latin American left movement. The new left in Latin America professes at the current stage some common political principles analyzed in the article. The author comes to the conclusion that the most influential new left forces are currents located to the left of social democracy. The article clarifies the attitude of the new left political formations to the problem of the unity of the left forces. The author clarifies the degree of electoral successes of Peruvian, Ecuadoran and Chilean Left in recent years, with a special focus on the specifics of their political projects.
