ABSTRACT This paper studies the preview tracking control problem of switched systems under asynchronous switching. Firstly, an augmented error system is constructed by using the method in preview control theory, which helps to convert the original preview tracking problem into the stability problem of the switched augmented error system. Secondly, by utilizing the mode‐dependent average dwell‐time approach in switched stability theory, sufficient conditions for the existence of an asynchronous controller that ensures the global uniform asymptotic stability of the closed‐loop switched augmented error system are derived. Thirdly, the sufficient conditions, as well as the preview controller for achieving the asynchronous preview tracking, are obtained according to the controller designed for the switched augmented error system. Finally, numerical simulations are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
