This ancient unpublished song has been preserved in three manuscripts- on papers 398 ‘’b’’ -399 ‘’a’’ of the manuscript No 2079 in the Matenadaran after M. Mashtots, on papers 187 ‘’a’’-187 ‘’b’’ of the manuscript No.1002 - in the Matenadaran of Vienna Mekhitarist Congregation, as well as on papers 378 ‘’a’’-378 ‘’b’’ of the manuscript No. 1250 in the Mekhitarist Congregation in Venice. The song in the Mashtots and Venice manuscripts is kept next to the songs by Tlkurantsi- entitled ‘’Lament of New Hovhannes’’, which itself states the fact that the author of the song is Tlkurantsi, though in the end of it his name is mentioned not clearly- as ‘’Hovhannes full of sins’’, whereas in the manuscript of the Mekhitarist Matenadaran the song ends as ‘’Khev Hovhannes Tlkurantsi’’, a fact which proves the copyright of the author. This lament song is typical of sensible-instructional spirit of Tlkurantsi’s songs. It is the echo of the spirit of the Middle Ages pious man- a supplication of hope and salvation to God, in which one may feel the impact of Narekatsi.
