Zuckerrnan' has described the development of the Sensacion-seeking Scale which measures the preferred level of stimulation in several areas of experience. Looft (197 1) suggested that sensation seeking is positively related to political liberalism. To test the hypothesis chat sensation seeking is related to self-rated liberalism in religion as well as in politics 140 college students who completed Zuckerman's scale also answered the following two questions: (1) How would you describe your religious views? ( 2 ) How would you describe your political views? The five response alternatives for both questions were: (a) very liberal, ( b ) liberal, (c) moderate, ( d ) conservative, ( e ) very conservative. Responses to both questions approximated a normal distribution with most Ss considering themselves moderate on both questions.
Levin et al. (Fri,) studied this question.
