This article analyzes O‘lmas Umarbekov’s novel “Odam bo‘lish qiyin” from literary, moral, and psychological perspectives. The work is considered one of the important examples of twentieth-century Uzbek prose, as it explores the complexity of becoming a truly humane person. The article focuses on the main idea of the novel, which is expressed through its title: being born as a human being is natural, but becoming a morally mature and responsible person is a difficult process. The study examines the artistic interpretation of human character, the role of social environment, the importance of conscience, honesty, kindness, responsibility, and spiritual maturity in the development of personality. Special attention is paid to the psychological depth of the characters and the moral conflicts that reveal their inner world. The article concludes that “Odam bo‘lish qiyin” has strong educational significance because it encourages readers to think about humanity, moral responsibility, and self-improvement.
