This research demonstrates that the degree of happiness and contentment with housing and not the type is the determining factor in feelings of loneliness among the elderly. Older persons living in apartments, housing complexes, relatives' or friends' homes and their own homes were interviewed concerning loneliness. These findings suggest that there are a number of housing possibilities for the. elderly, and the typo of housing is probably not the most important consideration.
