Existing food and agriculture systems manage operations — movement, storage, certification, compliance, transaction. They do not structure product-level disclosure — what the product is, where it comes from, how it was produced, what has been declared, and what remains undeclared. This note defines the disclosure layer as a structural category distinct from traceability, certification, labelling, and compliance. It introduces the concept of producer-declared product information structured into portable form, and explains why a disclosure layer is needed alongside — not instead of — existing operational systems.
