The 2.7-mm J = 6 5 transition of methyl cyanide has been detected in the Sgr B and Sgr A molecular clouds. The presence of several lines from excited K-levels indicates a kinetic temperature 150 K. The hydrogen density derived from excitation rates is flR2 106 cm-3.
