Smart Library Systems: Role of AI in Optimizing Library Resource Management Smita Vasantrao Mane Research Scholar, Yashwantrao Mohite College of Arts Science and Commerce, Pune Dr. Sachin S. Suryawanshi Librarian and Research Guide, BVDU Abhijit Kadam Institute of Management and Social Science, Solapur Abstracts Libraries are the storehouses of knowledge treasure. Smart Library Systems are conceptualized as an integration of transformational Artificial Intelligence (AI) within Library and Information Science (LIS) to enhance operational efficiency and resource management. These systems combine advanced technologies such as machine learning, natural language processing, RFID, and data analytics to automate core library functions, including cataloguing, classification, indexing, circulation, and collection development. By incorporating intelligent information retrieval and predictive analytics, libraries can significantly improve bibliographic accuracy, streamline technical processes, and ensure efficient organization and access to both physical and digital resources. AI-driven optimization enables evidence-based acquisition planning, enhanced inventory management, personalized user services, and better control over digital repositories. Smart Library Systems reduce operational costs while simultaneously improving service quality and responsiveness. The integration of AI transforms traditional libraries into dynamic, user-centric, and technologically advanced knowledge hubs capable of meeting the evolving demands of the digital information society.
