A Survey of Facial Expression Recognition Based on Convolutional Neural Network

Facial expression recognition is an important part of human-computer interaction technology and a hot research topic in the field of computer vision. With the rapid development of computer hardware and the arrival of the era of big data, the academic research on deep learning, especially the research on convolutional neural networks, has received much attention in the field of computer vision. The main content of this paper includes the development history of convolutional neural networks, mathematical theory, facial expression recognition algorithm using convolutional neural network and main application fields of facial expression recognition. Finally, the paper summarizes the problems existing in facial expression recognition and the future research directions.
