Epidemiologic studies suggest that abnormalities in blood rheology, platelet function, and endogenous fibrinolysis are potential thrombotic risk factors for cardiovascular disease.

Abstract

A series of epidemiologic studies evaluating thrombotic risk factors for cardiovascular disease have recently been completed. These studies, which have focused primarily on abnormalities of blood rheology, platelet function and endogenous fibrinolysis, may prove useful in identifying patients at high risk for future vascular disease.
