A small area of ground reduction was archaeologically monitored. The small area (48 sq m) revealed a series of late Roman pits containing a wide range of pottery, a few metal finds, animal bone, oyster shell and human bone. A few sherds of medieval pottery were also recovered. The results add to the evidence for late Roman occupation extending outside the Roman town's wall.
