Employee retention management has emerged as a critical concern for organizations operating in today's highly competitive business environment. It refers to the policies, practices and strategies adopted by organizations to encourage employees to remain with the organization for a longer period. Organizations invest substantial time, effort and financial resources in recruiting, training and developing employees to align them with organizational goals and culture. The departure of trained employees not only increases recruitment and training costs but also leads to the loss of expertise, productivity and organizational continuity. High-performing employees are among the most valuable assets of an organization, as they drive innovation, operational excellence, customer satisfaction and sustainable competitive advantage. Retaining such employees has become increasingly important in the software industry, where success largely depends on intellectual capital and superior performance. Beyond compensation, factors such as career growth opportunities, recognition, meaningful work, supportive leadership, learning and development initiatives and a positive work environment play a significant role in influencing employees' intentions to remain with an organization. In the knowledge-driven software sector, organizations that foster employee motivation and provide clear career advancement pathways are better positioned to retain high-performing employees and maintain long-term competitiveness. Therefore, this study focuses on identifying the factors influencing the retention of high-performing employees in software companies, with particular emphasis on career growth opportunities and positive motivational practices.
