ABSTRACT The present study examines the impact of physical fitness and academic achievement on students’ physical and mental health, recognizing education as a holistic process that integrates cognitive, physical, and psychological development. In the contemporary educational context, increasing academic pressure, sedentary lifestyles, and reduced physical activity have raised serious concerns about students’ overall well-being. Physical fitness, which includes components such as strength, endurance, flexibility, and coordination, plays a crucial role not only in maintaining physical health but also in enhancing cognitive functioning and emotional stability. Academic achievement, on the other hand, reflects students’ scholastic performance and is closely linked with motivation, self-esteem, and mental health. The study is based on the assumption that physically fit students are better equipped to cope with academic demands and psychological stress. A descriptive and correlational research design was adopted to analyse the relationship between physical fitness, academic achievement, and health outcomes. Standardized physical fitness tests, academic records, and validated mental health inventories were used to collect data from a representative sample of students. Statistical techniques such as mean, standard deviation, correlation, and comparative analysis were employed to interpret the data. The findings reveal a significant positive relationship between physical fitness and physical health, indicating that students with higher fitness levels exhibit better stamina, immunity, and overall health status. Moreover, physical fitness was found to be positively associated with mental health variables such as reduced stress, anxiety, and improved concentration. Academic achievement also showed a meaningful relationship with mental health, as balanced academic performance was linked with higher self-confidence and emotional well-being. Importantly, the combined influence of physical fitness and academic achievement demonstrated a synergistic effect on students’ overall health. The study underscores the importance of integrating physical education and fitness programs within the school curriculum to promote students’ physical and mental health alongside academic success. It concludes that a balanced emphasis on physical fitness and academic achievement is essential for fostering healthy, well adjusted, and productive individuals in the education system.
