A preceding trial-trench evaluation of the c.2.2ha site identified a low incidence of archaeological remains in the north and west that included a cluster of three postholes containing Bronze Age/Early Iron Age pottery. Consequently, a 20m sq excavation area was positioned to investigate the vicinity of the prehistoric postholes. This was enlarged during the fieldwork to establish the further extents of archaeological remains encountered. The 624sq m excavation area recorded a number of additional postholes and associated pits of Middle to Late Bronze Age date, the majority of which defined a single probable fence line traced for a distance of c.24m.
