Abstract

The medical literature indicates that chest pain and particularly anginal-type pain may be due to pulmonary hypertension. To investigate this possibility, we compared the frequency and type of chest pain in patients with normal pulmonary pressures and those with varying degrees of pulmonary hypertension. There was no difference between frequency and type of chest pain in patients with pulmonary hypertension and controls. We find no evidence that an anginal-type chest pain is related to pulmonary hypertension. (JAMA1981;246:2345-2346)
