He is a clinical cardiologist and researcher with board certification in cardiology and internal medicine from Denmark and Switzerland, and has held visiting positions including Associate Professor at Johns Hopkins University. He has contributed to major trials such as ARISTOTLE and chaired ESC guideline task forces on atrial fibrillation and myocardial infarction.
