The success of developing psychological readiness in the pre-competition phase depends on taking into account a number of general didactic principles: consciousness and activity, systematicity and consistency, accessibility, individuality, etc. The manifestation of the necessary qualities and skills, the use of improved means of attack and defense, the transformation of fights into a "training ground" for testing and consolidating all newly mastered material, the creation of stability of mental processes is achieved by organizing combat practice. A favorable psychological background for improving the technical and tactical skills of hand-to-hand combat athletes is created by reducing or increasing the volitional and physical tensions of athletes, setting tasks, demonstrating combat initiative, selecting partners, conditional restriction or expansion of tactical activity in the desired direction, creating situations that facilitate the use of certain actions, options for building fights. Tactical initiative and counteraction to the opponent's plans and actions are fully possible only under the condition of stability of attention, great internal focus on creative activity, with critical assessments of one's actions. General psychological preparation for the competition takes place throughout the entire training cycle. During the above preparation, not only pre- competition emotional stability should be developed, but also a highly competitive level of motivation, as well as self -control, self- regulation in conditions of high competition. The psychological readiness for the competition is characterized by the formation of certain psychological qualities in the athlete in the pre-competition phase. A very important role at this stage is played by the coach, who must timely identify and respond to the "correct" formation of the athlete's psychological consciousness. Based on the conducted research, recommendations have been formed for compiling statements-statements for programming the brain to effectively overcome the stages of psychological preparation of combat athletes.
