Enhancement of the Methodology for Increasing Athletes’ Technical Proficiency in Ukrainian Belt Wrestling

The article addresses the improvement of the methodology for enhancing the technical preparedness of athletes in Ukrainian belt wrestling within the training process at the stage of preparation for major competitions. The primary objective of athletic training in Ukrainian belt wrestling is to increase the level of athletic mastery by developing technical skills and abilities, as well as by improving the level of specialized physical fitness. This, in turn, enables athletes to effectively apply their high level of sports proficiency during various stages of long-term athletic development within the competitive process. Research Aim: To enhance the level of technical preparedness of athletes in Ukrainian belt wrestling during the stage of preparation for major competitions within an educational institution setting. Research Methods: A synthesis of scientific and methodological literature; analysis of documentary materials related to the research problem; pedagogical testing to assess the level of general and specialized physical fitness; and a pedagogical experiment aimed at evaluating the functional state of the cardiovascular system as well as the general and specialized physical preparedness of athletes engaged in Ukrainian belt wrestling. Conclusions: The increased intensity in the development of technical and tactical wrestling actions during the main part of the training session in the Ukrainian belt wrestling training process led to measurable improvements in the specialized physical preparedness of athletes in the experimental group. Specifically, the speed of partner throws increased by 11.2%, while headstand-to-bridge and reverse bridge transitions improved by 10.7%. Eight athletes from the experimental group, who represented the Lviv region team at the 2025 Ukrainian Championship in Ukrainian belt wrestling, became prize-winners at the national competition.
