Educational practice (practice in pharmacognosy) is an essential part of the training of qualified pharmacists. The base of practice is the nursery of medicinal plants of the SPCPU, located in the Vsevolozhsky district of the Leningrad region. It is home to more than 200 species of herbaceous plants, trees and shrubs, including those that are quite rare in culture (for example, Glaucium flavum, Catharanthus roseus, etc.), which makes it possible to get acquainted with the species of various geographical regions. At the same time, practical skills in morphological description of plants are formed, taking into account the diagnostic signs and differences of similar species. The study of medicinal plants growing in the North-West of Russia is carried out during excursions to the forest, swamps, meadows. As part of the practice, classes are held on the resource management of medicinal plants to determine yields using the methods of model specimens and projective coating, operational reserve, and the volume of possible annual harvests using the example of herbaceous and shrubby plants. Students also perform individual tasks on the procurement of certain types of raw materials, work in groups on the procurement of raw materials and the formation of analytical samples. The result of mastering the practice is a diary in workbook format.
