The purpose of this study is to conduct an empirical survey of firefighters on factors affecting the capabilities of fire safety inspectors through theoretical exploration and analysis of prior research on fire safety inspectors, and to suggest measures to strengthen the capabilities of fire safety inspectors based on the results. The results of the study showed that safety programs were the most influential variable, followed by inspector leadership, inspector expertise, inspector qualification system, and risk factor dissemination as variables that influenced the capabilities of fire safety inspectors. However, the safety accident analysis was found to be statistically insignificant. In order to strengthen the capabilities of fire safety inspectors, a qualification system should be introduced, and a new on-site safety inspector training course should be established to systematically train professional personnel who can manage and strengthen safety at fire sites. The capacity of fire safety inspectors must be strengthened to respond to the changing environment.
