Abstract After about half a century, Indian agriculture, a success case of the Green revolution, needs to be revisited for accessing its carry-overs and new issues. Empirical analysis of post-2000 data, characterized by side effect left by the revolution and the progress in other technologies, geography of climate and policy directions of contemporary urgency reveals poor growth of input productivity. Econometric modeling that recognizes spatial heterogeneities found lingering positive effects of traditional inputs including labor and environmental factors but differentials of efficiency growth raise concerns about certain states.
