This study examines how researchers used the verb to communicate with the readers in applied linguistics research methodology. The study followed Aktionsart Theory which classified verbs into four types including action (run), accomplishment (run a mile), achievement (win a game) and stative (like). The sample in this study was the methodology sections from System and Journal of English for Specific Purposes. The dataset was made up of 302 independent clauses from the methodology sections. The data analysis followed inferential statistical analysis of was Pearson Correlation in SPSS version 29. The results in this study shows that there is a statistically significant relationship between action verbs and research methodology in applied linguistics research articles. The p-value was reported at 0.00. The verb found in this section has the semantic denotation of developing, evaluating and creating. The results in this study comply with the definition of research study in that research is ongoing process. For future research, it is recommended that Vendler’ achievement verbs could be tested with other research sections, such as the results of the study and discussion
