Subject. The article discusses the development of regional transport infrastructure. Objectives. The study aims to generate and substantiate a model and its elements to assess the development of the region's transport infrastructure based on economic data, using the Chuvash Republic case. Methods. The study employed general scientific dialectical methods of cognition, like induction, deduction, analysis, synthesis, forecasting, the logical method and modeling. To test the methodological model, specific methods of statistical and economic analysis were used. Results. The paper offers to consider the transport infrastructure as a complex system, that is, using a systems approach. I developed and calculated a methodology for evaluating the economic data of the transport infrastructure based on an economic and statistical multifactorial model, the elements of which correspond to the task of building the system, and described its elements. The model is configured to take into account a wide range of intra- and extra-regional factors affecting the functioning of the regional transport infrastructure. The model presents key performance factors and, on their basis, provides evidence-based recommendations. Conclusions. The study revealed that factors like investment and innovation activity have a direct and elastic impact on efficiency, while the impact of the exchange rate is inelastic.
