AbstractThe field efficacy of novel fungicides against purple blotch disease in onion was carried out at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Almora, Uttarakhand during rabi eason of the year 2021-22 and 2022-23 to find out the promising fungicide for management of this disease. The observations recorded on various parameters namely per cent disease index (PDI), yield, gross income, net income, benefit cost ratio etc. revealed that treatment-T1 (Azoxystrobin+Difenconazole) @1ml/l of water was found to be most effective with PDI of 3.77% in 2021-22 and 2.86% during 2022-23 at 80DAT. The maximum bulb yield harvested under T1 was 299.56 q/ha during 2021-22. The net income and B.C. ratio recorded to be Rs. 3,22,002/ha and 2.72 in 2021-22, respectively. Almost same trend was observed during 2022-23 in T1. The treatment-T2 (Difenconazole @ 0.5ml/l of water) had also significant impact on management of purple blotch in onion. It is pertinent to mention that T1 was significantly superior over other treatments including T2 but it was observed that very slight variation was recorded between T1 and T2 in all parameters under investigation. The data taken on incidence of disease in the control (T3) indicated the severity of the disease under unprotected condition in rabi onion.
