Summary The current buildings of the Medical University of Vienna were mainly constructed between the eighteenth and twentieth centuries and reflect a multigenerational ambition to keeping up with the latest developments in medicine. The current comprehensive structural expansion of the Medical University of Vienna within about a decade represents a significant turning point. Following the construction of the old and the new Vienna General Hospital (AKH), the establishment of modern infrastructure by the preclinical “MedUni Campus Mariannengasse” (MCM), the Center for Translational Medicine (CTM), and Center for Precision Medicine (CPM)/“Eric Kandel Institute” represents another milestone for Austrian medicine and will accompany the next generations of Austrian physicians for many decades.
