In July 2020, a salvage excavation was conducted on the southwestern fringes of H orbat Ma’aravim (Permit No. A-8788; map ref. 173165–280/588236–318; Fig. 1), prior to the installation of a gas pipeline. The excavation, on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and funded by the Israel Natural Gas Lines Company, was directed by D. Biton, with the assistance of Y. Alamor (administration), M. Yehuda (trial trenches), E. Aladjem (field photography, surveying and drafting), Y. Nagar (physical anthropology), I. Azoulay (plans), A. Gyrman-Levanon (digital documentation), Y.
