This study aims to investigate the influence of an undergraduate course on teaching statistics and probability on the statistical knowledge of preservice mathematics teachers. Statistics Concept Inventory (SCI) was used to measure the statistical understanding of the participants. It was implemented at both the beginning and the end of the course. A paired sample t-test was used in the analysis, and the pre-and post-test scores were compared in order to investigate the influence of the course on prospective teachers’ statistical knowledge. The results indicated that the preservice mathematics teachers’ level of knowledge in SCI increased after taking the course. In both pre-tests and post-tests, preservice mathematics teachers (PSMTs) lacked an understanding of statistical inference and sampling.
