The recently approved Federal Chemistry Work Program sets strict requirements for the content of education. No reasoning has been offered for this content, and no professional discussions have been held on this issue. This article should be considered as an invitation to a discussion about the content of the organic chemistry course at the basic level. It attempts to set the framework and criteria for the selection of content. The author hopes that, based on the results of the discussion, it will be possible to bring the Federal Chemistry Work Program closer to the needs of society.
