This study examines the efficacy of the contextual parameters-governed re-contextualisation model (CPRM) framework in translating Chinese political aphorisms and imageries into English. Our dataset covers 300 examples from Xi Jinping: Governance of China (Volumes I – IV), which includes 81 thematic discourses and articles. In this article we provide a justification for developing the theoretical model; analyse the official translations, and compare examples following the CPRM. Our findings reveal that the CPRM may improve the political and cultural implications of the aphorisms and imageries. Ultimately, this study aims to enrich the study of the political discourse in translation studies, offering a model that bridges linguistic fidelity with contextual sensitivity.
