A single data center project was originally proposed next to a residential area on a portion of a defunct train yard slated for redevelopment. Sound emissions from this data center's exterior noise sources were evaluated via acoustical modelling; results were compared with regulatory limits, and noise control recommendations were issued to the client. A second data center, operated by the same client, was then proposed adjacent to the first data center project. After this second data center was analyzed and noise control recommendations were issued to the client, a third data center was proposed adjacent to the second data center. This presentation will discuss this case study and the scope and sound emissions creep of these three data center projects.
