The study examined the OSCE's contribution to the peaceful settlement of the socalled frozen conflicts in South Ossetia and Abkhazia. From 1992 to the present, the OSCE has been making significant efforts to achieve a final settlement of these conflicts. It is known that the consequences of the August 2008 war turned out to be unfavorable for the activities of the OSCE Mission in Georgia, which had been functioning since 1992, and caused its closure at the end of the same year. However, immediately after this event, the OSCE's participation in the peace process was quickly restored, albeit in a modified form: as a co-mediator of the GID and coordinator of the IPRM in Ergneti. So, this work is devoted to the study of the role of the OSCE in the settlement of conflicts in South Ossetia and Abkhazia, in the period from 1992 to 2024, with an emphasis on the international legal aspects of its participation, as well as the analysis of the legal framework on the basis of which the legality of the declaration of independence by the breakaway Georgian territories should be determined.
