Background: Different adjuvants are currently being employed alongside local anesthetics to extend the duration of pain relief during and after epidural block procedures for infra-umbilical surgeries. Dexmedetomidine is a recently popular neuroaxial adjuvant that acts as an extremely specific α2 adrenergic agonist.
