Clinical simulations have been shown to increase medical students’ understanding of and interest in dermatology. The New York University Grossman School of Medicine Dermatology Interest Group developed and evaluated a new simulation that more fully mimics the process of diagnosing pigmented lesions by emulating a dermatologist’s actual workflow. After participating in the simulation, students demonstrated increased knowledge in both short- and long-term assessments, and 96% felt that the simulation should be a mandatory part of their curriculum.
