Subject. This article discusses the issues of socio-economic development of areas and improving the well-being of the population. Objectives. The article aims to determine the most important areas of monitoring the achievement of the development goals of large urban agglomerations. Methods. For the study, I used the general scientific research methods. Results. The article finds that budget monitoring is a key aspect of monitoring the strategic development of a large urban agglomeration. Conclusions. The results of the study can be used in the practical activities of local self-government bodies in the field of strategic development.
