This paper examines the prospects for the development of the tourism industry in Russia, identifies the main problems hindering its successful functioning, and suggests ways to eliminate them. The study is based on an analysis of the current state of the tourism infrastructure, the study of the needs and preferences of potential tourists, as well as an assessment of the effectiveness of existing measures to support and develop tourism. In the course of the work, methods of comparative analysis, statistical research, as well as expert assessments and surveys were used. The results of the study made it possible to identify the key problems of the tourism industry in Russia, such as insufficient infrastructure development, low staff qualifications, limited access to information about tourist opportunities, and others.
