Background: The increasing number of elderly individuals today presents numerous challenges for every country, particularly in low and middle-income countries. Despite this,there is a paucity of studies focusing on the sleep quality of the elderly. This study aims to comprehend the current situation and explore factors associated with the sleep quality of the elderly in Da Nang City in 2019. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 468 elderly residents in Da Nang from January to June 2019 using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) scale. Results: The study revealed that 71.4% of the elderly participants experienced poor sleep quality. Factors related to the sleep quality of the elderly include age group, personal economic status, medical history, alcohol consumption history, stimulant use history, exercise habits, and participation in social activities (p<0.05). Conclusion: A significant proportion of elderly individuals face challenges with poor sleep quality. The study demonstrates a relationship between sleep quality and demographic factors as well as lifestyle habits.
