In the course of its pivot to Asia over the past decade, Russia has made significant efforts to develop closer economic ties with China and diversify its relations with countries in Northeast and Southeast Asia. This paper seeks to answer three main questions. First, what are the goals and challenges of Russia's 'pivot to Asia' strategy? Second, how has this strategy worked so far and what are the challenges? Third, how has the war in Ukraine affected the pivot to Asia and its relations with East Asian countries?BR Russia
