The article covers the assessment of Pragmatics as a scientific concept, which is an integral part of Linguistics, and its semantically related linguistic and philosophical categories “pragmatism” and “pragmatic” in their usage in various contexts of modern English-language media discourse. The study reflects the dynamics of the growing popularity of making use of pragmatic terms in English-speaking society throughout the history of the development of Anglo-Saxon civilization from the beginning of the XIXth century to the present moment. The study analyzes the examples of lexical units reflecting the pragmatic values of the English-speaking world in popular British and American media publications. The research also makes a prediction about the future application of pragmatic categories in the construction of the English-speaking media discourse, as well as the popularization and cementing the ideals of pragmatism in the modern realities of the leading English-speaking countries in the world
