The author of the article conducts a theoretical analysis aimed at identifying and justifying the requirements for the INTELLIGENT Intellectual Adaptive System for Foreign Language Training of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Officers. Based on the theoretical analysis of scientific literature, the author of the article substantiates the main requirements for the INTELLIGENT system: informational and didactic requirements: they provide the information on the methods, forms, and means of instruction that are expedient to use according to the training objectives, which are determined based on the information contained within the INTELLIGENT system, including the learner model. Psychological requirements for the content of the INTELLIGENT system: these requirements entail the necessity to consider the age and individual characteristics of the students, their cognitive learning styles, and other psychological factors. Diagnostic requirements: the INTELLIGENT system should provide the ability to track the progress of each officer regarding the development of their foreign language professional competence. Program and technical requirements for the software product: these requirements encompass ensuring accessibility of the platform to learners, protecting information (ensuring the confidentiality of information and data), and enabling users of the INTELLIGENT system to leave feedback and recommendations. The scientific article also examines modern software tools aimed at developing users' foreign language competencies. Four main applications are considered: English Tutor by English 4U, Duolingo, Memrise, and Babbel. Each of these applications utilizes machine learning technologies to adapt the learning process to users' individual needs. They are available as online platforms and mobile applications. It is noted that each application has its own characteristics: Memrise focuses on developing communicative skills, Babbel serves as a language course, while Duolingo and English Tutor are also popular language learning applications among users. The analysis shows that all of these applications have advantages for use in the military sphere, including their adaptability and affordability. However, among the disadvantages, limitations are identified that may not align with the needs of higher military educational institutions and military establishments.
