At the beginning of the 20th century, the Polish-language press in the Kingdom of Poland disseminated innovative ideas of education and upbringing as well as created a space for analyzing and discussing pedagogical solutions of the New Education trend. In the political situation of a nation deprived of its own statehood, the new ideas remained only postulates for a long time, but nevertheless modeled the way of interpreting the processes of education and upbringing in Polish society. The purpose of this study is to determine the areas of change in the approach to education and upbringing recommended in the press of the Kingdom of Poland, and inspired by the ideas of the New Education. The method used was qualitative analysis of newspaper articles devoted to the reception of the assumptions of progressivism, published in socio-cultural magazines of the Kingdom of Poland in 1905-1918. The most popular and representative titles were taken into account. The results of the analysis indicate that changes in thinking about education were possible, among other things, thanks to the development of pedology, and the demands for reform concerned almost all elements of the didactic system.
