The article discusses the influence of physical and chemical processes occurring in the process of production of cement-bonded particle boards (CBPB) on their operational characteristics. Wood waste is used as the main raw material, which emphasizes the environmental orientation of the work. Particular attention is paid to the interaction of the components of the cement binder with organic substances contained in wood chips. It has been established that the presence of water-soluble extractives and sugars in wood can slow down the hydration of cement, which leads to a decrease in strength characteristics and an increase in setting time. The paper also considers methods for modifying the composition of cement paste and processing wood aggregate in order to minimize the inhibitory effect. The studies have confirmed that the optimization of the physical and chemical parameters of the interaction between the components can increase the strength, water resistance and durability of the resulting boards. The results of the work can be used in the development of effective composite materials based on wood waste. Keywords: wood-cement boards, water absorption, strength, durability, fire resistance.
