The theme of the article is the lexical composition of the macro field Geology of Placer and Ore Deposits within the terminology of gold mining in the modern Russian language. The aim of the article is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of lexical and terminological nomination, identifying the sources of terminology formation, including borrowings, calques, and native Russian terms. The field analysis method is employed in the paper. The research material includes both written sources (dictionaries, monographs, articles, specifications) and oral speech as well as professional communication. The terms are systematized and classified based on their functional and semantic characteristics. As a result of the onomasiological and etymological analysis of the vocabulary, one terminological macro- and four microfields have been distinguished. Structural features of micro field terms are analyzed, particularly the formation methods of compound terms, along with a lexical-semantic analysis of micro fields. Hyper-hyponymic relationships and the role of metaphors in the terminology usage are also examined.
