Media consumption in India is undergoing a profound structural transformation, driven by rapid technological adoption, behavioural shifts, and economic realignments. This paper examines the long-term decline of print media and the emerging downfall of electronic media (television), while analyzing the rapid acceleration of digital media consumption. Based on current global and national trends, the study argues that digital media—particularly mobile-based internet platforms—will soon achieve near-monopoly status in information distribution. This paper provides conceptual, empirical, and socio-technological reasoning to demonstrate why digital media will dominate the future media landscape.
