This review investigates the worldwide application and success of base-isolation systems in tall buildings. It examines regional differences in usage, featuring significant case studies from North America, Asia, Europe and other developing regions. Performance evaluations and experimental research were conducted to assess the seismic responses of the isolated buildings. This study addresses major challenges, such as economic, technical, and regulatory obstacles. It also examines emerging trends in advanced materials, smart technologies, and sustainability. The review concludes by summarizing the essential findings on the effectiveness of base isolation, regional implementation trends, and factors influencing successful application. This study outlines the implications for engineering practice and future research directions, offering insights into the changing landscape of seismic protection for high-rise buildings worldwide.
