This study investigates the job satisfaction of female librarians in tertiary institutions in Benue State, Nigeria. The specific research objectives include determining the level of job satisfaction, identifying factors influencing job satisfaction, and examining challenges to job satisfaction among female librarians in tertiary institutions in Benue State. A quantitative methodology employing a correlational survey research design was adopted. The study population comprised 111 female librarians in tertiary institutions in Benue State, with total population enumeration sampling used for data collection through a five-point likert scale structured questionnaire. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics including frequency count, percentage, mean and standard deviation. Findings indicate that pay/fringe benefits, promotion opportunities, leadership style, supervision quality, interpersonal relationships and working conditions significantly influence job satisfaction. The challenges identified include irregular salary payments, inadequate employee appraisal and recognition, marginalization by institutional authorities, and an unconducive work environment. The study concludes that while female librarians in tertiary institutions in Benue State report high job satisfaction, these challenges may hinder long-term motivation and productivity. The study recommends among others, timely payment of salary, transparent promotion policies, enhanced welfare packages and equitable career growth opportunities.
